October 15, 2025 The Main Door is Going for Renovation

It is time to send our main door for a proper face lift.

So, after consulting our heritage department officer, who suggested renovating the main doors instead of installing new ones, we called in a talented team of carpenters from Bystrzyca Kłodzka to take the doors for revitalization. They quickly removed our doors and installed something temporary. We’ll also replace the missing piece above the door, which we suspect disappeared after several break-ins. We’ll restore all the elements and give them a second life, so they can continue to serve in their original place. The badly damaged section near the lock will need to be replaced. Mr. Konrad, our carpenter, said the doors are of good quality and are holding up remarkably well for their age.

After cleaning, we could see how many layers of ugly oil paint our doors have absorbed. We’ll paint them as closely as possible to the color they were first painted 220 years ago. The door handle has already been chosen…

We’re now wondering what the semi-circular piece above the door looked like. It’s completely invisible in the drawings and photos we have access to.

They will look fabulous, once back.

How are the remaining renovation works progressing?
