The wheels of renovation have been set in motion…
and we started by assessing the things that needed to be done first. Upgrading the security system seemed important, and the roof grant, due by December 2024, was the most urgent item on the list.
We asked our architect to assess the condition of the roof structure and quickly prepare a roof replacement project.
A very short deadline forced us to submit an offer with all required permits by June 27, 2024.
The first permit was easier to obtain. It was a change of the investor’s name on the building permit.
Our polite and helpful real estate agent, Kacper, helped us with this immediately, but obtaining a building permit did not mean that it was extended to a permit from the conservator.
We had to apply for a partial permit to speed up the paperwork for the roof. It was quite irritating that the law did not connect the two departments and each of them did as they pleased, causing additional work for officials and wasted time for investors.
Another urgently needed small task was to repair the holes in the main doors that had been lengthened by curious people who wanted to see what was inside.
Every little step makes us happy and excited about the progress. Our Old Lady was cleaned and pre-vacuumed. We slowly wake her up from her long sleep.
